Here are the revised schedules after Snow Day II for both the lecture and lab.   I will also post these on Blackboard and will hand them out in Lecture and my sections of the Lab.

********************************

Sorry for the delay in getting this information to you.   My power was out for a while and I have not been able to get into Blackboard or FMU email.  For the lab class you should expect to get the lab that was originally scheduled (for which you already prepared) next week.  For those of you in my sections of the lab, we will do the mini-lab final (Part I, I already had the mini - final zeroxed and ready to go before the snow) (originally scheduled for "Snow Week II") when we meet next.  I am trying to get rid of one of the originally scheduled labs (the last scheduled lab - "Group and Periodic Relationships")  by getting authorization from Dr. Williams, Mr. Ragsdale and everyone involved.

With 2 entire weeks gone because of "Snow Weeks", there is not a whole lot of time left where we can move labs and still have you end the semester at the end of the semester.   For the lecture classes, I am going to move Quiz IV up to 2/25 Tuesday (QIV originally scheduled for 2/18 Tuesday)  Then Exam II is going to have to be moved up to 3/4 Tuesday.   Quiz V will have to be moved to 3/11 Tuesday.   Then the rest of the semester will just stay the same.   I asked you to let me know which option you liked better by BB email / announcement.   Almost all feedback that I got from you (until BB and email stopped working) was that you liked Option II which is the new revised exam/quiz schedule for the lecture.   When we meet next, I will have the newly revised lecture exam schedule as a handout.   I haven't been out of my apartment since Tuesday afternoon and all I can see is my apartment parking lot but that does still look icy.   posted by Dr. Hahn at 8 am 2/14/14 from her Florence apartment

now able to get into both email and blackboard but not on campus because I am faculty and not administrative staff so I did not so not coming to FMU campus, grading your Quiz III at home, (NOTE:   I also had to correct a "typo - handwrito" on your Quiz III answer key - you probably noticed it if you already looked at the answer key - I said "disulfer tetrasulfide" instead of "disulfer tetraflouride") updated by Dr. Hahn at 1:30 pm on 2/14/14

According to the FMU official announcements, FMU will be closed 2/12/14.  I hope you received the blackboard email which I sent you.   There will be later updates about assignments later.   As already discussed, a missed Quiz III will be counted as a documented excuse because of the weather without hard copy documentation.   There are however no make up quizzes for Quiz III as some of you requested.   I never give the same quiz or exam to anyone for any reason after I have already given the exam or quiz to everyone else (the other approximately 150 students) because it is almost impossible to keep the content of a quiz or exam secure even if everyone tried their hardest to do so.  You know that I am not secretly allowing some students to make up the same quiz and exam after everyone else has taken the quiz or exam because I post the answer key as soon as the 9:55 class has finished taking the quiz or exam.   Quiz III answer key was posted in the glass case outside LSF 301 at around 11:20 noon today.  I returned your Exam I today to those of you who came to class.  I also posted your Exam I grades by your selected PIN number outside of LSF 301.   I left campus at around 12:30 noon   Updates on assignments will be posted to your blackboard email address and this website (for those of you who have not found your way to the blackboard site).

By the way for the few of you who had a folder inside the file folder holder where I had not input your exam:   Please make sure that your name is legible on your folder.   Please do not put your folder inside other people's folders and make sure that you put your folders inside the letter folder which goes with the first letter of your last name.   Keep in mind that I am a human being and because I had to make up your 3 lab final exam (part I) and then had to make up your Quiz III and finish grading your Chemical and Physical changes labs (3 pages of bad handwriting from 90 of you) I barely managed to get your 6 page Exam I (with its 4 pages of fill in the blank and word problems) in time to return it today.   I was adding up the points to your exams until 2 am last night.   I then had to get up at 5:30 am this morning so that I could get to campus before the 8:30 am class.   I put the exams into the folder from 7:15 am until around 8:10 am.   So once again if I did not do a perfect job of getting everyone's exams into your folders, that is why.   Some people's folders are easier to read that others - as in those of your with horrendous hand writing.   As always those whose folders I could not find, I held those in a folder with me and wrote your names on the chalkboard.   So no I was not trying to hold exams or hide them from you because I am trying to do something horrible to you.   If I wanted to do that I would not return your graded exams with detailed account of how many points everything is worth.   I never remove folders from the file holder boxes.   If you remove a folder, you should return it otherwise I will hold your quiz or exam  and you will have to ask me to let you have your quiz or exam.

I am not going to ask students who are one year ahead of you to grade an exam with word problems and fill in the blank with partial credit points.   That would be unfair because I know that some of you are good friends with some of the potential students who have been following me around asking to grade my exams.   That is never going to happen.

posted by Dr. Hahn at 7:20 pm from her Florence apartment   PS:   I will be posting the answer key to Exam I on this website and the document camera lecture notes from today on blackboard.    See you all soon.

According to the FMU official announcements, FMU will cancel all classes after 12:30 pm tomorrow due to the weather.

So:   Chem 101 Lecture Tuesday 2/11  (a)  8:30 am to 9:45  am and (b) 9:55 am to 11:10 am will go on as scheduled.

CHEM 101 Labs for Tuesday (12:45 pm to 3:35 pm Dr. Hahn section )  and (6 pm to 9 pm Ms. Melton section ) are canceled.   In my section, your lab reports will be due when we meet next and your lab final (Part I) will be given when we meet next.

For the CHEM 101 Lecture:   I am finished grading your Exam I and will return it tomorrow.   We will have the scheduled Quiz III tomorrow. (originally scheduled for 2/6 Thursday and then rescheduled due to snow to 2/11 Tuesday).

If there are any weather issues where you are located, I will consider Quiz III to be an excused absence if you notify me when we meet next.  You will not need to provide hard copy documentation because I can see the weather reports myself.    I don't want anyone to get hurt because you are trying to make it to class to take the quiz.  Use your best judgement.  Ice driving is really treacherous.   Excused absence quiz will be replaced by an average of your own grade by using the formula   [(QIII missed / your own quiz average) = (QIII rest of class / class Quiz average all quizzes)]

See you tomorrow weather willing.   (Honestly I have lived in SC for years and it normally snows maybe one time every 3 years.   I don't remember  ever seeing two big snow storms in one season.)
